19TH PRIMARY SCHOOL OF KATERINI
The Odyssey, an unforgettable, experiential and instructive experience. The most exciting story in the world!
On Thursday, February 20th 2020, classes A ', B' C & D 'of the 19th Elementary School in Katerini with the teachers Mrs Patouni Vlutina-Maria, Sakka A., Chalkia I., Bachlitzanaki M. , Sakka K., Kanonidou P., Kapetanaki K., Margariti T. and Dabou A. , visited the NOESIS CENTER in Thessaloniki and afterwards attended the "Odyssey"- theme park (https://www.noesis.edu.gr/odyssey/).
The "Odyssey" Theme Park - Museum, is an overproduction of a highly educational and entertaining nature. In the Diffusion Centre of Science and Technology called NOESIS, at a place that has been successfully transformed into ancient scenery with three-dimensional robotic models in sound and motion of all the beasts and monsters that the hero managed to beat, Odysseus' adventures and wanderings come to life and unfold before the eyes of the young and the old.Young and elder people had the chance to experience a special flashback to the distant past in a unique and incredible theme park. They discovered interactively the adventures of Ulysses, watched the resourceful and tireless hero struggle to take his fate in his hands, facing gods, demigods, witches and giants, listened to the words whispered to him by goddess Athena, the advice of fortune teller Tiresias and met all the places where the King of Ithaca travelled, wandering for ten years. Every room was a milestone of the hero's adventures: the Land of the Lotophages, the Cyclops-Cave of Polphimos, the island of Kirki, the Straits of the Sirens - there as another Odysseus tied in the mast was Mrs. Margariti Th.
Within the entrails of the Trojan Horse, where once the Achaeans hid to conquer Troy, there were all the memories and incredible details of Ulysses' legendary journey, the fearless hero but also all the memories, events and love memories of heroes of the most fascinating story in the world. So visitors to the theme park were directed to the Trojan Horse and saw the gods, beasts and legends come alive in a special and unique place. They watched Odysseus' secret tricks devised to avoid the great dangers and all the abilities he used to deceive mythical monsters and gods. Kirk, the Cyclops, the Laestrygones, the Sirens, the wild Poseidon and the easy-going Aeolus, waited for them to tell their story.
The supervision, educational validity of the theme park and museum texts have been undertaken by a large scientific and creative team. The scientific supervision and guidance of the group is led by the Emeritus Professor of Ancient Classical Philology and President of the Greek Language Center, Mr. Ioannis Kazazis.
He is a special Researcher at the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies, the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and the University of N. Dakota Visiting Professor at the University of Maryland. The texts and the script of the Museum-Theme Park was written by the writer and researcher, Mr.Panagiotis Topalidis. A distinctive "touch" in the park was also added by the popular Mr. Yiannis Servvetas, beloved and well-known for his resourceful and intelligent humor. His own subtle "intervention" into the script texts added a strong dose of humor.
Highly educational and humorous, the Odyssey theme park tour was an unforgettable, interactive and educational experience for students and teachers!
Thank you !
