TRADITIONAL AND LOCAL FOOD


Souvlaki: Its roots go back to antiquity. The first mention is in the Iliad. Where we find Achilles roasting pieces of meat in Thrace. The souvlaki consists of small pieces of meat (pork or chicken) put on sticks and grilled.







              
Kleftiko (or thief in English)
 got its name from the thieves who stole lambs 
and roasted them in makeshift ovens 
they dug into the ground, to hide the smell of roasting. 
Components
2 kilos of lamb in 4 pieces,
4 potatoes, peeled and cut4 bay leaves,
2 tablespoons fresh oregano, chopped
4 cloves of garlic,
Salt Pepper

It is a soup made from beans and

various vegetables.

Fasolada or fasoulada is one of the most popular traditional dishes

of Greek cuisine. Τhe beans are also used in other famous dishes

such as gigantes in the oven and spetsofai.
